Now this brake controller will activate your trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. It'll automatically adjust the trailer's braking based on the deceleration of your tow vehicle. And this is compatible with electric or electric over hydraulic trailer brakes. If you look on the front of it, it has these large accessible buttons, so it makes it very easy to operate the controller. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Trailer Brake controller, which comes included with the universal wiring harness. When it comes to picking out a brake controller, you know, there's a lot of a model on the market and trying to figure out what one is gonna work best for you can get a little overwhelming, you know, and we do a lot of these trailer brake controllers here and from my experience I found that the Liberty is one of my favorites for a few different reasons we'll get into in a minute. But you know, this is gonna work in a lot of situations for a lot of your general purpose, kind of all around towing needs. If you plan on pulling a trailer around that has electric brakes or even over electric hydraulic brakes, that's where a trailer brake controller like the Liberty is gonna come into play, right Whenever you hit the brakes in your vehicle, it'll apply the trailer's brakes and bring you to a more predictable and safe stop. And compared to a lot of the other ones out there, one of my favorite things about the Liberty is gonna be the appearance or how it looks. more

Now, this brake controller will plug into your vehicle, and it'll wirelessly connect to your smartphone, and it uses a Bluetooth connection, which will let you control all your brake settings from an app on your smartphone. Basically, you can see this part here will plug into your 7-way at the back of your vehicle, and then right up here you'll plug in the 7-way connector from your trailer into the port here. It's a very nice, easy to use design, it's very simple to install. Now, it does require a smart device that has OS requirements if it's an Apple device of 8.0 or newer and a Android device of 4.3 or newer. more

This is a kind of unique brake controller in that it mounts mostly to your trailer rather than you having to find a place in your vehicle for that brake controller itself. This is a really great option for those folks that don't want to have anything in the way of their dash, or maybe there's just not a good spot to put a brake controller in there, just not a lot of room, or again, you just don't want to make any modifications to it.Normally with a brake controller, you've got to find a spot for that little unit to go on your dash or somewhere nearby at hand so that the driver can operate it. But that's just not always an option for a lot of vehicles. So this gives you a really nice proportional brake controller to control the brakes on your trailer, make sure that they apply, bring your trailer to a safe stop so you're not relying solely on your towing vehicle to do all the work. more

Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller Review- Video
Hi there hollers there. Today we're going to be taking a look at Tekonsha's Primus IQ proportional trailer brake controller.This brake controller is going to be your entry level into a proportional brake controller and even though this is entry into proportional, I would recommend it over most of your time delay modules, just to how much smoother your breaking experience is going to be with a proportional controller, because proportional means that it uses an internal inertia sensor to detect the movement of the vehicle.So as we hit the brakes and go to a stop, that inertia sensor is going to detect that loss of motion and it's then going to use that information to apply a signal to the trailer brakes at the back, which will apply them. But it uses this information to help match the application of the brakes, to what you're doing here in the vehicle. So that way, when you hit the brakes, you're going to get a softer brake application at the trailer if you hit the brake softly in the vehicle. And then if you need an aggressive stop, like an emergency stop and you hit the brakes hard here in the vehicle, it's then going to detect that quick stop and it's going to put out a hard, aggressive brake to your trailer.With your time delays, you're just going to have whatever you have your setting to on your adjustment. And then a few seconds after applying the pedal, it will then apply to that exact amount that you've got it set to. more

So if you're looking for something that's going to have a minimal impact in your vehicle, this is definitely one of the smaller ones out there. As far as a brake controller that's in one package like this. And since it's a time delay brake controller, you can put it pretty much wherever you want, because the orientation's really not that important. Many of your proportional brake controllers need to be mounted in a specific orientation, they have to be leveled side to side, and front to back needs to be fairly level as well. more

Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller Review- Video
Today, we're going to be taking a look at Tekonsha's Voyager proportional brake controller. This is an entry level proportional brake controller designed to work with electric brakes. It is not designed however, to work with electric over hydraulic brakes. If you are wanting to use that on your trailer, then I would highly recommend Tekonsha's Prodigy P2 or P3 models. But with this base model here, if you've got just standard old electric brakes, like I've got on my trailers, then this is a great option because it is proportional, which means that the harder you are breaking the harder this is going to break your trailer behind you and vice versa if you're breaking softly, just kind of creeping up to a stop sign. This will match that as well, because it can detect that inertia. more

With it being a time delay brake controller, the nice benefit of the time delay versions is that they can be mounted in any orientation. You can put this thing just about anywhere in your vehicle. I've got it in kind of a traditional location underneath the dash leveled like you would a proportional brake controller. But that's again really the big benefit with all your proportional brake controllers. They need to be level side to side and they have usually particular angles that they can be front to back, whether it be up or down here. more

The cool thing about time delay brake controllers is that you can put them pretty much wherever you want. They don't have to be in any specific orientation. They just need to be securely mounted to ensure it doesn't rattle around and eventually potentially cause damage to the internal components.That being said, if you're wanting a smoother braking experience with your trailer, I would recommend a proportional brake controller, as they work with an inertia sensor inside that works with your vehicle and the brake pedal. So as you stop in your vehicle, the inertia sensor detects how quickly you're stopping and will automatically apply the brake in your trailer proportionately, so that way it's going to have the same brake pressure as your vehicle. more

Hey everyone I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller. This is kind of a unique style of brake controllers since it is going to be a trailer mounted brake controller that eliminates the need to have the unit mounted in your cab, which can cause a lot of issues with interference, for your airbag, causing some issues whenever you're getting in and out of your vehicle, whacking your knee against it. There's just never really a good spot these days to find a place to mount those brake controllers and at best, that just kind of looks awkward. So we don't have to worry about any of that with this guy. The only thing that we'll have in the cab is going to be this little key fob here. So you can press the button for the autumn or the override, and then also adjust the aggressiveness of the braking, right from this little piece.So you can mount this on your dash, put it on your key chain, have it somewhere readily at hand, but not have to take up a lot of space or worry about any kind of interference. more

A brake controller is going to allow you to apply the brakes in any trailer that has brakes equipped. This is going to make it easier to haul heavier trailers, because we can feel confident when we're coming to a stop because we know all the weight of that trailer is not being stopped by the brakes on our vehicle, but we've got additional assistance back on our trailer. This is going to improve the quality of the ride when coming to a stop, because you're not going to feel that weight pushing on the back. Speaker 1: Today, we're gonna be taking a look at Tucson's Actual Link Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for disc brakes, part number 335ACE-1600. You can also get this as a kit with a direct link NE brake controller, using part number 335ACT-1600-DLNE.This is what our actuator is gonna look like when it's installed. You can really pick any location that you'd like to install it. We've got it installed on our camper here, inside the front compartment. It comes with mounting brackets so it can be mounted at the bottom and attach it sitting upright and also a side bracket so you can mount it to the side of something and it has to be positioned upright, with the cap at the top, no matter where you position it.This actuator is designed to work with hydraulic disc brakes systems. Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today, we're gonna be taking a look at Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Proportional Trailer Brake Controller. This works for one, up to four, axles. The part number is 90885. The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 is a really good choice when it comes to brake controllers. It offers proportional braking, which in my opinion is the safest braking that we have available with brake controllers, versus the time delayed systems, which just had a general ramp into which the power we're gonna be applied to the brakes when you hit them. This brakes in relation to the force that you're actually exerting on you pedal. more

Whenever we're towing a trailer or a camper like we have here, it's important that the brakes are going to be working properly. Whenever we slow down with our tow vehicle, we don't want to rely purely on that to slow our trailer down because we're adding so much extra weight. What's really great about this brake controller compared to others on the market, is its remote mounted control knob. Cause many brake controllers, you're limited to the location where you can mount it because of its large size. And they also have many orientations in which they need to be mounted. With this option, the control module can be mounted behind the dash, hidden away at the appropriate location, and you can have your remote mounted controls that you need to access in any location that you want. It really opens up the options for you.And since it's just a control knob with the LEDs, it's much more pleasing to the eye. more

Immediate activation is great for offroading.The control knob, which is this portion here, mounts in the dash or other easily accessible area inside the cab of the vehicle. Nice, small design. The knob right here has a diameter of about 5/8 of an inch, so what you see right here is what's visible from within your vehicle. more
